Meet Lovell - the one-eyed explorer who beat the odds!
Lovell was part of the “astronaut kittens” litter — rescued at the last minute from a euthanasia list with severe eye infections. Many in the litter would be partially or fully blind, exploring their world like astronauts in the dark.
Lovell’s journey was especially harrowing. He had the most serious infection of the group and his tiny body was in a precarious position — too small for safe surgery, but in urgent need of care. With strong antibiotics, around-the-clock eye drops, and a lot of love from his foster mom, Lovell stabilized and grew strong enough for surgery just two weeks later.
Before his operation, Lovell didn’t feel well enough to enjoy much — he was cranky and wary of touch, understandably so after weeks of treatments. But once he healed, everything changed. Now healthy for the first time in his life, Lovell is discovering just how good life can be. He purrs, leans in for scratches at the base of his tail, and plays enthusiastically with his brother Armstrong. Lovell may only have one eye now, but it hasn’t dimmed his outlook one bit — in fact, it’s made him appreciate every moment of the bright, happy life ahead of him. Lovell's favorite toys are the ball tower and the feather chaser. He
would love to be adopted with his brother Armstrong.
